About us

Hey there, welcome to our blog! We are Dennis and Abby, a Dutch-Canadian couple currently living in the Netherlands and trying to explore the world as much as we can. Unlike many of the fabulous blogs out there, we are not going to start off by saying we have quit our jobs to travel the world and document our travels (although that would be amazing, for now we can only dream!). We simply hope to be able to share the amazing adventures we have had, and provide tips and insight into these beautiful destinations, with additional insight from the perspective of an international couple. We are both just starting out in our careers, so for now we usually take the opportunity to travel on weekends and during our time off. By documenting our travels, we aim to help other hopeful travelers fit traveling into their busy lives, and do so in an affordable way. We have bonded over our love of big cities, a mutual passion for travel and a love of experiencing new places, foods, and cultures. Since the start of our relationship, we have been lucky enough to explore numerous cities and countries, whether it be on day trips, weekend city trips or slightly longer holidays, and for that we are incredibly grateful. In the future, we hope to be able to expand our travels even more internationally, and hope to be able to dive deeper into local culture by living in different cities.

Ever since I can remember I have always had a travel bug; the prospect of exploring somewhere new has always excited me, and not long after returning from visiting a new place have I found myself eager to see more. I grew up in a town north of Toronto, Ontario, in Canada, and was lucky enough to have the opportunity to travel with my family both in Canada and internationally when I was younger, which likely sparked this passion. I have lived in the Netherlands since August 2016 and am currently working towards completing my Masters degree in global health. Living in Europe has been an amazing experience, the close proximity of so many different cities has allowed me to travel and see more than I could’ve imagined. I love the lifestyle here and hope to continue to see what Europe and beyond has to offer!

Favourite cities: New York, Copenhagen, San Diego

I have always been passionate about traveling and exploring new places with my friends and family. During my studies, I had the opportunity to study abroad and work in Madrid, Barcelona, and Berlin. My time in each of these cities provided me with a lot of international experience, both personally and professionally, and helped develop my love of big cities. Of course it is nice to see what small, off the beaten track places have to offer, I really like how much culture and how many things to do can be combined into one big city! I grew up in a village near Eindhoven in the Netherlands, which has provided me with great access to many nearby places in Europe. Being in an international relationship has also allowed me to see much more of my own country, and to see it from a different perspective than I am used to.

Favourite cities: Madrid, San Francisco, Barcelona
